Sector Skills Agreement
Our research – the largest research in the sector for over 20 years – clearly identifies the critical skill issues facing hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism. These issues are present throughout our diverse 14 industries, both nationally and regionally.
There are four critical areas that all parties need to work together to address – three spanning the entire sector and one with a hospitality focus. These are:
These issues can only be solved by all parties adopting a focussed approach. By all parties we mean all – People 1st, Government, Employers, Education, Learning Providers, Regional Development Agencies, and even employees.
What is the Sector Skills Agreement?
Sector Skills Agreement (SSA) – the Contract between Government, Educators and Business that People 1st will broker to ensure that the skills employers need are the skills they will set in the future.
This strategic review is The Sector Skills Agreement (SSA) and it consists of 5 key elements:
- Assess the current and future skill needs
- Assess the current skills provision
- Make analysis of the gaps between the current provision and future needs
- Identify the scope of collaborative action required to deliver to the needs
- Deliver an action plan (with costs) to deliver the identified needs
The sector skills agreement research outputs drive the development of the National Skills Strategies to ensure that the skills industry need are the skills industry get.
Thank you to all those who have kindly given their time to date taking part in surveys, working groups and one to ones it is both appreciated and essential if we are to ensure that the critical issues facing the sector are addressed.
