Setting standards of performance

A national occupational standard (NOS) is a statement that describes what an individual needs to do, know and understand in order to demonstrate competence in an occupational function. People 1st works with representatives across the industry to ensure that these standards reflect the occupational competence of a given job role.

Review of national occupational standards for retail

A review of the national occupational standards (NOS) for retail is underway and following the initial feedback received from employers and stakeholders, we have now redrafted the standards for further consultation. 

The NOS for retail are split into eight suites and below you can download the relevant zip file containing the PDF files that highlight the proposed revisions for each NOS.

Please download the range of standards currently imported into the retail suite.  As policy has changed and imports should not seek to duplicate other standards unnecessarily we, following consultation with employers, have made recommendations as to which require signposting and which should be tailored and retained in the retail specific suite.
