People 1st International wins contract to support Philippines in building management skills of construction workforce
People 1st International has been appointed by the Philippine Constructors Association Inc. to develop and quality assure a fit for purpose management training programme that will transform the skills of supervisory level construction workers in the Philippines’ booming construction industry.
With construction companies in the Philippines recently being urged to prepare a sufficient talent pipeline to support the government’s massive “Build! Build! Build!” program of 75 flagship projects including the build of 6 airports, 9 railways, 3 bus rapid transits, 32 roads and bridges, and 4 seaports, People 1st International has secured a contract to develop an industry-specific programme that will help meet the future management skill needs of the construction sector.
Building on the work of Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) in training some 100,000 entry level construction workers by the nationwide under the “Build, Build, Build” program, People 1st International will help support the newly skilled workers by developing a recognised and quality assured programme for the Philippine Constructors Association (PCA) that develops the skills of supervisory and management employees.
In developing better managers that are able to retain and motivate teams, construction firms can expect to reduce labour turnover, improve productivity, job satisfaction and employee morale, all of which will be critical for the industry to achieve the government’s infrastructure development ambitions to transform the Philippines.
Working in partnership with the industry association PCA, government body TESDA, and private construction firm DMCI Construction Group, People 1st International will develop a management programme that meets the framework set out by the three organisations and achieves recognition from a globally recognised UK awarding organisation.
Following the development of the programme, a quality assurance and assessment process will be defined by People 1st International along with a train the trainer programme that helps build the capacity and capability of PCA trainers, who in turn will upskill the trainers of private construction firms.
