The hospitality and catering offer at Hugh Baird College is called the L20 Hotel School.

Created in 2013, L20 Hotel School is tapping into some of the UK’s top culinary talent to educate and train the region’s future superstar chefs and hospitality workers.

The school is geared up just like a professional restaurant and in fact they also run their own L20 Restaurant – so not only does it have a team of dedicated teaching staff but also an operations manager, commercial coordinator, head chef, sous chef, and a food and beverage manager who, with students, run the core of the business.

The aim of the school is to shape the future of the hospitality industry by providing education, training, work experience and inspiration for those taking their first steps into the industry.

In order to ensure they maintain standards and remain at the cutting edge of the industry, they also have regular visits from leaders from the UK hospitality industry to work alongside students and staff. These include the likes of Victor Yu, Sean Paul Redding, Mark Greenaway, Mark Poynton, Gary Usher and Paul Askew.

The L20 Hotel School is all about student success, raising standards, nurturing talent and instilling in the students the attitude needed to be successful in the hospitality world. Everything the Hotel School do is geared towards creating opportunities that lead onto full-time employment in the industry. And on that front, they have succeeded, with a large number of past learners now working in leading UK restaurants thanks to links forged in the kitchens of the L20 Hotel School.
