Support the redesign of apprenticeships in Scotland

People 1st International

The apprenticeship system in Scotland is changing to make it more responsive to the opportunities and challenges created by the changing nature of work.

The new approach to developing apprenticeships allows employers and employees to design apprenticeships to cover their sector or occupation, ensuring that they reflect what work looks like today and consider future skills and technologies.

Customer service, retail, travel and hospitality apprenticeships are being redeveloped and we need your input at this critical stage to ensure your business has easier access to a steady pipeline of talent with the skills needed to grow your workforce, expand your business, and meet the future demands of your industry.

Employee input in the second stage of the redesign

We received an outstanding response to the employee questionnaire on the redesign of Modern Apprenticeships.

As part of the next stage in the redesign of apprenticeships in Scotland, we’re inviting employees to attend a workshop to review the results and input into the specific tasks undertaken in their job roles.

This stage will enable the development of work profiles or work situations which reflect knowledge, skills and behaviours true to the job. These work situations are then used by a Technical Expert Group to develop an Apprenticeship Standard and Framework.

This unique approach is being used to develop Scottish Apprenticeships, directly considering the views of employees to gather information on what they do every day in their job. This will help us to develop an apprenticeship that meets future skills needs.

The virtual workshops are running on the below dates. Employees can register to attend the workshop relevant to their role.

  • Hospitality supervision: 22 February 10.00-12.00
