Consultation on retail National Occupational Standards

People 1st International is working closely with employers, training providers and key stakeholders invested in the retail sector to review and update the National Occupational Standards related to retail.

We are inviting all stakeholders to provide their feedback on updates across 162 National Occupational Standards. The standards all sit within the retail suite and were last reviewed in 2017.

Given the large number of retail NOS, the proposed updates and changes have been summarised in a document to provide employers and stakeholders with a high-level overview, eliminating the need to review each individual NOS. However, the document includes links to each NOS, allowing those interested to explore the detailed tracked changes within each specific NOS document.

What are National Occupational Standards?

The National Occupational Standards (NOS) are regarded as one of the most essential resources for workforce development and certification in the UK. Employers use National Occupational Standards as a common language to support and facilitate consistency, standardisation, transferability and interoperability. They have a variety of important uses for both individuals and organisations, including being used in the development of job roles or service design, training and qualifications, or as a measure of workplace competence.

It is crucial to regularly update these standards to ensure they stay relevant and continue to help build a knowledgeable and skilled workforce in the retail industry.
