How to become a gold standard apprenticeship provider

If your organisation is interested in becoming a People 1st gold standard apprenticeship provider, enquire now and a member of our team will be in touch.

While the process to achieve the gold standard is rigorous, it’s not designed to overlap with evidence you’ve already provided to the Skills Funding Agency (SFA) or Ofsted during inspection. We’ve designed the application process so it’s straightforward, and doesn’t have a negative impact on your busy schedule.

We particularly want to know about your strategy to drive new apprenticeship standards and how you intend to work with employers to achieve the best results for their business.

The process

There are five steps to becoming a gold standard provider:

  1. Evidence scan – you’ll be asked to complete an application form, providing evidence of the service you currently provide to employers. You’ll then either progress to step two, or straight to step three.
  2. Development period – we’ll advise of any areas where you need further work, and can provide support to aid this process if required
  3. Face-to-face visit – we’ll visit you in person to verify the evidence scan, and meet with staff, clients and apprentices
  4. Employer panel – we will recommend you to our employer panel, which will make the final decision on whether or not to award gold standard provider status
  5. Service level agreement – you’ll operate to our service level agreement and officially become a People 1st gold standard apprenticeship provider
